I’m Sam, and my journey in the flooring industry began right after I left school at the age of 16. With an innate eye for detail and a relentless work ethic, I dived headfirst into the world of flooring, ready to embrace the challenges that lay ahead.
My introduction to the craft was through my father’s close friend, a highly skilled multi-floor layer. For eight years, I immersed myself in the trade, learning and working under the guidance of this seasoned professional. The experience not only honed my skills but also fuelled my passion for the intricacies of the industry.
In 2018, I decided to embark on a new adventure, taking a working holiday visa to Australia. Little did I know that this journey would lead me to more than just professional growth. After a year in Australia and the fortunate meeting of my soul mate, we made the decision to return to the UK, establish a home, and lay the foundation for my own business.
Back on familiar ground, I transitioned from being an employee to an entrepreneur, founding SD White Flooring. Since returning from Australia, I’ve been dedicated to building relationships with both previous and new customers. The growth of my business is evident in the recent addition of my younger cousin, who has joined as a trainee floor layer, continuing the family legacy.
